EDUCATION COMMITTEE FOUNDATION PRINCIPLES

What is our aim?

To promote education in the field of retroperitoneal sarcoma (RPS) among junior faculty and trainees (residents and fellows) by utilizing the expertise of the Transatlantic Australasian Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Working Group (TARPSWG) members.

In particular:

  1. by means of a webinar series we aim at spreading principles of best management of RPS patients, discussing controversial clinical topics, reviewing the relevant literature in the field of RPS, and discussing clinical cases with an educational purpose.
  2. By creating a library of relevant papers to be included in the TARPSWG website we aim at providing a platform for junior faculty and trainees who are managing patients with this disease.

Who are we talking to?

Our primary target population will be junior faculty and trainees (resident/fellows) with interest in RPS within or outside the TARPSWG. The events will be open also to community surgeons and general surgeons with interest in RPS.

What is the role of the education committee?

  • Regarding the webinars: engage experts in the field of RPS in case discussion, literature reviews, journal clubs, lectures in web-based events designed for junior faculty and trainees.
  • Regarding the library: select relevant papers, keep the page updated, put the papers into context with a brief commentary.
