This large bi-institutional study from Canada showed that both early complications and the incidence of needle tract seeding after core needle biopsy of a retroperitoneal mass are very low. Thus, the benefits of core needle biopsy in diagnosing sarcoma and determining its histologic subtype and grade far outweigh the risks.
