This study investigated changes in treatment strategy and outcome for patients with primary RPS who underwent resection at referral centers during a recent period. Post-resection 5-year survival was superior for the patients with primary RPS who had resection during a recent 5-year period compared with 10 to 15 years ago in the same group of referral centers. This survival improvement was not linked to a decrease in the rate of sarcoma recurrence, but rather appeared attributable to a combination of better patient selection, better quality of surgery, and better perioperative management
