Mr. Jakob is a Consultant Sarcoma Surgeon at the University Medical Center Göttingen. He is a boarded Surgeon for General, Vascular and Visceral Surgery.
Before being appointed at the University Medical Center Göttingen he was trained in general surgery at the University Medical Center Mannheim, Germany and surgical Oncology at the Robert-Rössle-Clinic/Charité, Germany. He underwent specialist training in vascular and visceral surgery before focusing on Surgical Oncology and Sarcoma Surgery under guidance of Professor Peter Hohenberger.
Mr. Jakob has a special interest in surgery for retroperitoneal sarcomas and GIST as well as multimodal treatment of extremity sarcoma including the performance of isolated limb perfusions. He actively participates in clinical sarcoma research including the initiation and performance of clinical trials and translational research projects. He received funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG). Mr. Jakob underwent a research fellowship at the Sarcoma Unit of the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, UK. In 2013, he won the research prize of the German Sarcoma Conference.
Mr Jakob is a member of the German Society of Surgery and the German Association for Surgical Oncology, ther German Interdisciplinary Study Group and the Connective Tissue Oncology Society
